[2976] Mustered in as a Private from Owen County on 23 Sept, 1862 into Co. E, 3rd Batt Mounted Rifles, CSA. Family researcher, Ms. Ernie Sluder, indicates he served for the duration of the war. His unit spent some time with John Hunt Morgan, the famous Confederate guerilla general. They were also at Vicksburg and Lookout Mt. Late in his life he received a small pension from the state of KY for his service.
