BOWLING GREEN - Elmo Jones, 71, of Vandalia, and formerly of Bowling
Green, died March 24, 2000, at Harry Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, at Kirks Funeral Chapel
in Bowling Green. The Rev. Jessie Hood will officiate. Burial will be at Bowling
Green Cemetery in Bowling Green.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the funeral home.
Mr. Jones was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Pike County near Frankford, to Harry
and Nellie Ingram Jones.
He was married to Mary Grote in 1964. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy Cullom and Sue Ince, both of
Vandalia; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Jones and Virgil Jones; and
one sister, Marjorie Dean Jones.
Mr. Jones was the owner and manager of Jones Bros. Oil. He served in the
Korean War with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Bowling Green.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green.
